Born and raised in Calgary, Dr. Mike grew up actively playing a number of sports at a competitive level, most notably hockey and football. As a result, he had to deal with a number of different sports injuries. He began seeing a chiropractor who effectively treated his injuries and provided prevention strategies to avoid re-aggravating them. It was here that Mike’s passion for sports medicine and chiropractic began; he realized the impact they have in helping not only relieve people of pain but also live more optimally.

He studied Human Kinetics at the University of British Columbia – Okanagan Campus before completing his Doctorate in Chiropractic (D.C) at Palmer College of Chiropractic West (PCCW) in San Jose, CA. Dr. Mike has further had the opportunity to provide chiropractic care to professional and amateur athletes at various sporting events, including the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. Since graduating he has been working at a sports directed clinic in Calgary called Kinetic Performance Center. Additionally he works as a Chiropractor with the Canadian Pro Rodeo Sports Medicine Team as well as a Bantam AA Royals team. Hockey has always been a true passion of his, so he was excited to get involved with the sport again.

He has completed certifications in Active Release Technique (ART), Graston Technique, Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) as well as Functional Movement Taping.

These additional skills allow for a well rounded approach to care, ensuring proper assessment, diagnosis and treatment for each unique patient. Dr. Mike has a special interest in the treatment and prevention of sports injuries, using a combination of Chiropractic adjustments, Soft-Tissue release techniques as well as exercise/ movement rehabilitation.

In his free time, he enjoys staying active by playing hockey and golf, as well as enjoying nature for some fishing and hiking. Dr. Mike’s passion is actively helping people of all ages achieve their health goals through movement, and teaching them how to properly prevent future injuries.

Dr. Mike is really looking forward to this opportunity to get involved with the Edge community. He is excited to get to know and work with this motivated group of student-athletes.
